DIY Project + Hula Hooping Fun!

It's been okay weather..went hulahooping at a friend's place..i still can't hulahoop..I think you need a long waistline to do it properly!! My body is all wrong for it.:( Then I did a DIY project with a wooden storage box that I got thrifting a while ago..i waited for the right summer weather to do it outside..i think it turned out way groovy! I used Artist Loft acrylic paints (these are the best to use on wood), and then I sparkled it all over..including the sides, and in the back I drew mandala design with black marker, the actual box drawers (3 in total), was very difficult to paint..i had to go over at least 5 times with different colours until it worked! The material on the front of the drawers was a weird type of plastic and it was black making it really hard to go over! But it finally worked, not too sure if I like it or not..i did a mushroom, then moon with stars, then a sun.  I'm liking the sun part a lot! I did go over with a gloss varnish finish.  I discovered my love for Quinoa lately..made a lemon and chives quinoa with red bell peppers and tomatoes..yum!! You can eat this hot or cold.  This quinoa craze started when I ate a power salad bowl at a cafe which had avocados, chick peas, cucumbers, wild Cali mix salad, couscous and of course quinoa..the only thing I didn't like was that there was way too much almonds in it..i'm not a fan of almonds, I love cashews!

"Lanky Lizards!"

"They didn't care that Marilyn's prints were practically in their backyard at Graumann's; that you could buy tomahawks and plastic palm tree wallets at Farmer's Market, and the wildest, cheapest cheese and bean and hot dog and pastrami burritos at Oki Dogs; that the waitresses wore skates at the Jetson-style Tiny Naylor's; that there was a fountain that turned tropical soda-pop colors, and a canyon where Jim Morrison and Houdini used to live, and all-night potato knishes at Canter's, and not too far away was Venice, with columns, and canals, even, like the real Venice but maybe cooler because of the surfers." - excerpt from my fav. book ever Weetzie Bat - Francesca Lia Block..

Boho Home Decor Haul

Thrifting for home décor/outdoor décor was thrilling yesterday! I found a pyramid stone shaped candle holder with stand..i'm not sure yet if i'll use it for a plant or candle, Indian bell shaped earrings which I've been searching for a long while..i was super excited to find these!!! Circle of Friends candle holder, these were popular in the 90s? A pretty stone dish to hold jewelry in, a wool daisy pin, wooden cross and amber stone pendants which I've made into chokers, an African style jar, and a creamer from the 1970s - Sadler made in England! Watched my fav. film "Go Ask Alice" and I heart the song Dear Mr. Fantasy a lot! It's a groovy film to watch for 70s hippie fashion and I also own the book..I haven't read it in a while..still have a hard time to believe that it is fictitious! Oh and the paisley hippie dress is Lucky Brand.

"I Can Make Myself Invisible Or Small.."

"I can make the earth stop in its tracks.
I made the blue cars go away.
I can make myself invisible or small.
I can become gigantic & reach the farthest things.
I can change the course of nature.
I can place myself anywhere in space or time.."
